Geocoding
Append latitude, longitude, and census codes to your records for mapping, market analysis, and demographic enrichment.
GeoCensus
With the GeoCensus option, Address IQ adds geographic and census codes to your records as part of the same pass that validates and standardizes them. If your data already has good ZIP and ZIP+4 codes, GeoCensus can also assign geocodes quickly using those existing codes.
What it appends
- Latitude & longitude - coordinates you can feed into mapping tools to plot customer locations and analyze geographic areas.
- Census Tract & Block - standard geographic units used for census and demographic reporting.
- Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA / CBSA) - the aggregation of counties into statistical areas defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget.
Precision levels
Coordinates are assigned at the most precise level the underlying data supports:
- Parcel-level - latitude and longitude is determined by pinpointing the center of a land parcel. Parcel-Level geocoding is best for use in rural or undeveloped areas lacking the structure of street grids and city blocks.
- Address-level - coordinates are derived from interpolation of an individual address along a street.
- Centroid - coordinates are based on the ZIP Code area, typically at the block-face level. In areas with less coverage, precision may fall back to a broader level.
Putting geocodes to work
GeoCensus lays the geographic foundation; you combine it with your own tools and data to unlock insight:
- Market analysis - visualize sales and penetration on maps to sharpen targeting.
- Predictive modeling & target marketing - use geographic selections to focus campaigns on your best prospects.
- Territory management - distribute territories and quotas more equitably with an accurate market picture.
- Media planning - align key markets with media outlets for more strategic ad spend.
